About Us
Peter Landau, founder, has been working in the trees since 1978. He has worked for several tree care companies before he started Ornamental Tree Company (OTC) in 1986. At which time he had been accepted for membership in the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). OTC built a reputation based on good tree care practices, safety, understanding how trees survive and why they do not, and realizing the objectives of the clients.
In the mid 90's the ISA had developed the Certified Arborist program which Peter had tested for and passed assuring himself that he was on the right track. Continuing to keep himself informed, Peter attended conferences and educational seminars to better understand trees and the impacts put upon them.
In 2005 he was accepted for membership in the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA) and shortly thereafter OTC became Northeast Arboricultural Associates (NAA). In 2006 Peter attended and graduated from the ASCA Consulting Academy. At that time NAA was primarily a consulting firm. Since then, NAA has been managing client’s trees and landscape plants utilizing associates who were ISA certified arborists to carry out the recommendations provided by NAA.
Now almost all phases of tree work are performed by employees who have been trained in house following the ANSI standards for tree care operations and Best Management Practices. Peter is still learning more about trees, passing it on to the crew, and still providing a higher level of tree care for all clients.
Presently Peter is working on the last phase to becoming a Registered Consulting Arborist (RCA) to be one of the less than twenty RCA’s in New York state. Peter offers free fruit tree pruning workshops each Spring and continues to offer advice to municipalities pro bono. Peter utilizes the latest research and technology in arboriculture and the knowledge and experience of colleagues, many of whom are ISA Certified Arborists and RCA’s, to help reach the clients’ objectives.
